Jim’s shop burned in 1990
Jim came home from Vietnam and became a General Contractor in Islamorada, FL and built custom homes on the water. His first was a spec home, his second was on five acres on the Atlantic Ocean. After several more in 1973 he built this one and carried his bride across the threshold.
Jim built a school, a business building, a church, but mostly houses similar to this one that have appreciated to the value of one million.
- The wings are only given for three gunfights exchanging bullets with the enemy. Jim had more gunfights than fingers and toes combined.
- The blue and gold ribbon under the wings represents two medals.
- Single Mission Air medal with Bronze Star that in part reads: For heroism in aerial combat.
- Air Medals represented by the number on the end.
- Jim was written up for a Silver Star, but it was cancelled because the authorities said the officers were lying about an airburst weapon that does not exist that we all saw and our chase helicopter was shot down by.
- Sharpshooter badge at bottom. Five days in a row Jim never missed an eighteen-inch bullseye at 500 yards.
